One of the super nutritious vegetables, these vegetables are very common in Mediterranian cooking. The leaves are green but the stalks vary in color (red, yellow,white,green). They are gaining lot of importance due to its nutritional content and health benefits.

  • They are great source of phytonutrients just as in any other leafy vegetables. They contain 13 different polyphenol including kaempferol the cardio protective flavanoid that are found in broccoli, kale, strawberries and other vegetables.
  • They contain a primary flavanoid called synergic acid which regulates the blood sugar level.
  • They are unique source of phytonutrients called betalains. Many of these betalains that are found in the stem of these vegetables are very good source provide antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and detoxification support.
