I’ve heard of Gobi Manchurian but was quite inquisitive when I heard my husband rave about Idli Manchurian, he had for lunch the other day. I immediately wanted to try making idli manchurian, but didn’t want to deep fry the idli’s with the batter we normally use to make gobi manchurian. Instead I made pan-fried idlis and mixed with manchurian sauce and the result was mouth-watering and so tasty.

Ingredients:

Idlis — about 10

Green Chilles –2 (finely chopped)

Garlic –5 to 6 pods(finely chopped)

Ginger –1/4 inch piece(finely shredded)

Onion –1 medium (finely chopped)

Spring onions –1/2 cup (finely chopped)

Coriander leaves –1/4 cup (finely chopped)

Soy sauce –2 Tbsp

Sweet & Sour Sauce –2 Tbsp

Chilli Sauce –1 Tbsp

Ghee –as needed

Procedure:

1. Cut each idli in to quarters (four halves) and pan fry them until crisp and brown on both sides with ghee. Transfer in to plate and keep aside.

2. Heat 2 Tbsp of oil in a kadai, add green chillies, ginger, garlic one after another and fry them for a min. Now add onions and fry them till crisp and golden brown.

3. Add soy sauce, sweet & sour sauce, chillie sauce and combine. Add 2 Tbsp of water and make it in to thick sauce. Add spring onions and coriander leaves and combine with fried idlis. Enjoy.

Pan fry idlis in ghee until brown and crisp.

Transfer in to a plate.

Make manchurian sauce, mix fried idlis with sauce and Enjoy!
